Ryhope CW name Hughes & Pounder as part of set up

-

Ryhope CW have confirmed former Easington Colliery joint-managers Craig Hughes and David Pounder are to form part of a new management structure at the Ebac Northern League Division One club.

Following the recent departure of Chris McCabe, the duo will work alongside current Ryhope manager Gary Pearson in what the club are calling a ‘trio fluid management team’.

In a statement released on the club website yesterday, Ryhope confirmed the trio will all have “an equal role and will all be present on the touchline on matchdays”.

Hughes and Pounder will return to the club after spending time playing under Pearson at the Recreation Ground and the latter is confident that the new structure can flourish when the Northern League returns in July.

He said: “Craig and Prof (Pounder) coming in is a boost, they both did a very good job at Easington.

“They carved out their own career, they’ve both been excellent servants in the Northern League and they both played for me at Ryhope and Crook.

“Our club is a bit more hands-on, they both understand that, and they can take a little bit of pressure off me in terms of the management and coaching.

“When they approached us, they asked what we wanted, and I said I wanted a management team.

“The title of manager, coach, physio, kitman, whatever it is, it doesn’t bother me. Between us, we will be a three-way management team and we will be a trio that will work together and trust each other.”
