Horden CW assistant boss hoping for bumper crowd for the derby

Horden CW assistant manager Andy Colledge is determined to avenge his side’s derby defeat against Easington Colliery when the two sides meet tonight.

The Colliers came out on top in their first meeting of the season as two goals from Kevin Pearn and one from Liam Adamson gave them a 3-1 home win against their local rivals in mid-September.

There are high hopes that the crowd for tonight’s game will match the 597 that witnessed that Colliers win - but Colledge is hoping a different result will be witnessed at Welfare Park.

He told The Echo: “Friday night’ s game is a massive game for the local area because both clubs have come a long way in the last four or five years.

“We are expecting a big crowd.

“We must put in a better performanc­e than we did at Easington in September because we did not really lay a glove on them that night.”

Horden will be without Barney Dobinson as he serves a ban but Olly Hotchkiss and Luke Bell will return to the squad.

Dane Bur lace could feature for the Colliers after joining them from Sunderland RCA last week.
