New cycle lane proposal on A690 Durham Road. Have your say.

June Waterstreet:

Is there someone in Sunderland Highways and Planning Department obsessed with changing road layouts, the Romans managed to build roads that lasted centuries, we are lucky if our council can let a road layout last a few years.

Ingrid Donaldson:

No one uses the cycle lanes in Newcastle so why would Durham be any different? Cyclists like to knock pedestrians over in my experience.

Ray Baillie: Like everything this self important council do, this will result in a total waste of taxpayers money.

Gordon Greenman:

There are bike lanes throughout the city that are not used. The sea front one being a prime example. The cyclist sometimes two abreast, seem to delight in delaying motorists who have to sit behind them. Let cyclists pay for their own track by paying a reduced road tax, insurance, and being registered.

David Robson: Cyclists will never use it. No way will they go round the corner. when there’s a risk of having to stop and actually put a foot on the ground.

Robert Scotter: What’s the point in having a say? Even if a majority of people are against something SCC do what they want anyway.

Derek Burdon: I hope the council will monitor the use of the road edge and verge by the highways agency to catch speeding motorists or will they be allowed to park themselves on the new cycle path when it arrives.

Iain Ball: Save the money there's not enough cyclists that would use it to warrant such an outlay.

Irene Hadlinton: Why they never use them should pay cycle tax if they insist on using the road.

Ian Stephenson: It needs to be an offence for a cyclist to be in the carriageway when there is a cycle lane available.

James Bell: Most people who use them will have paid zero road tax, how about you fix the pot holes that have been around for months!

Kath Scott: Waste of time.
