Joining a programme will help keep you motivated and achieve your goal

Most people set New Year’s resolution­s and start the year with positivity, energy and good intentions. But how many people actually achieve those New Year goals?

A recent study in America (University of Scranton) showed that it’s only eight per cent!

With 80% of people giving up by the second week in February.

The main reason for this (in my opinion) is that they don’t have anything, or anyone, to hold them accountabl­e and keep them motivated past the first couple of weeks.

If you’ve set yourself a New Year resolution, a great way of staying motivated for longer, and not falling at the first hurdle, is to join a programme that holds you accountabl­e.

A programme where you work with a real-life coach that takes time to check-in with you. Who’s there to answer questions. Who personalis­es the programme for you. Who knows what makes you tick to get the best out of you. And, who keeps setting you new challenges so you don’t get bored.

Here Graham provides an insight into his career: “When I left school I spent four years as a profession­al footballer at Hartlepool United, learning a great deal in the way of exercise and nutrition and how to get the best out of your body.

“When my football career ended due to injury I qualified as a personal trainer and moved to Dubai where I worked in a huge gym.

“When I returned from Dubai I took on the role of gym supervisor and personal trainer at the five-star Seaham Hall Hotel and Serenity Spa.

“It was at Seaham Hall that I set up my first boot camp.

“They went from strength to strength and grew very quickly. While I was there I won the Leisure Excellence Award at the North East Hotels Associatio­n.

“I left Seaham Hall in 2012 to focus on running my own business.

“Then in 2015 I opened my first Personal Training studio, East Coast Fitness at Seaham Harbour Marina, where I now run boot camps and personal training.

“That year, I was shortliste­d for Small Business of the Year and Leisure Award at the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Awards.

“In 2016 East Coast Fitness I won Sole Trader of the Year at the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Awards and retained it again in 2017.

“My aim is to keep developing my knowledge, growing the business, and helping as many people as I can get in shape and stay in shape.”
