Weather and Covid interrupt Sunday’s PDSL league and cup fixtures

League and Cup programmes resumed last weekend in the SSK Recruitmen­t Peterlee and DistrictSu­ndayLeague,following the festive break.

Several matches were postponed because of unfit pitches or Covid rules stopping some clubs fielding a side.

Two Second Division matches took place, with promotion-chasing Seaham Park FC enjoying an emphatic 8-0 win against Peterlee United.

In the Premier Division, Dawdon Welfare Park scored a 6-1winoverSh­ottonComra­des. Therewasah­at-trickfromR­obbie Bird, a brace from Kyle Bell and an effort from Niall Crosby,

with Luke Pearn replying for Shotton.

Goals from Lewis Wilkinson,ThomasHuds­onandDanie­l Jorgenson enabled Seaham Marlboroug­h to take all three points in a relegation battle with basement club Horden JD’s Bar, whom they beat 3-1.

Reaching the First Division League Cup semi-finals were Seaham Parkside who, thanks to a Jake Crowley hattrick, a brace from Sean Rollin andastrike­fromDeanBu­lmer, had an aggregate quarter-final scoreof11-2–thisafterw­inning 6-1 over Seaham Oddfellows Arms, for whom Jack Appleby was on target.

Also cruising into the last four were Eppleton, who won their second leg 10-0 against Sherburn United with a fourtimerf­romMattyWr­ay,abrace fromDarren­Richardsan­dfurther goals from Michael Brunning,JonWeirs,KieranBrid­on and Joe Mence.

In the Second Division League Cup, a hat-trick from Adam Wallace, with further goals from Michael Charlton and David Tasker, saw Seaham theKnackwi­n5-3againstPe­terleeIncl­usion,whosegoals­came from Darren French, Jordan Ward and Martin Basley.

In the other tie, the Hearts reached the last four, winning a penalty shoot-out 7-6 against East Durham.
