Silksworth CW manager Jamie Cole admitted his side have “plenty to work on” following their 3-1 defeat at Annfield Plain.

Two goals from Carlos Malpass and one from Connor Shaw gave the hosts all three Wearside League First Division points at Derwent Park, as Cole’s men slipped to sixth place in the table.

Anunderwhelmingdisplay was given its deserved return withafirst-halfowngoaloffering some hope of a comeback that never materialised.

Cole offered an honest assessment of his side’s performance and immediately turned his attention towards improving matters in training this week.

He said: “We started the game slowly once again and Annfield caught us out to take the lead.

“That seemed to wake us up and get some control of the game, butwemissedchanceafter chance.

“An own-goal got us level at half-time, but we should have been three or four up.

“We weren’t at the races in the second-half and pretty much stayed in the dressing room.

“Credit to Annfield, because they did not stop and punished us on the counterattack.

“It was not our day, but there have been too many ‘not our days’ recently and we have plenty to work on at training this week.”
