Getalead can claim victory at Gosforth

-

Getalead can come out on top when tackling a near threemile trip for the first time in the Border Minstrel Pub Handicap Hurdle at Newcastle.

The Claire Harris-trained gelding looked to be crying out for further when staying on for fourth place behind Highway One O Two over two miles and three furlongs at Taunton in his latest start.

That defeat brought to an end a run of three victories, one at the distance and a pair over two miles five and a half furlongs.

Getalead showed no signs of stopping when winning at Wincanton and Ascot and the six-year-old is certainly worth trying over this extended two miles and seven and a half furlongs.

Uncle Alastair can confirm the promise of first start since having wind surgery for a third time by ending a losing run that stretches back to January 2018.

The 10-year-old may well have been successful last time had he not been slightly hampered close home when going down by half a length to Papa Tango Charly at Carlisle.

That was a good effort after 286 days since his previous run and Uncle Alastair can go one better in the Sky Sports Racing Virgin 535 Novices' Limited Handicap Chase.

Martha Willow can build on a promising first run over the smaller obstacles to open her account in the Tyne Mares' Novices' Hurdle.

There was plenty to like about her jumps debut at Catterick where she was never far away, but her lack of experience told and she had to be content with third place.

Even so, she was only beaten three lengths by the winner, Auditoria.

Huntsman Jog can end a string of four placed efforts this season and open his account over fences in the Tribute Cornwall Pale Ale Novices' Limited Handicap Chase at Exeter.

Fergal O'Brien's eightyear-old has done little wrong and, after finishing second three times, only lost the runner-up spot in the dying strides over this course and distance on his latest start.

That was arguably his best effort as he was only beaten a length and three-quarters by the winner, De Young Warrior, in a stamina-sapping contest over the three miles.

Only nine of the 17 runners completed with eight being pulled up.

A repeat of that performance should see Huntsman Jog go close.

Don't Rightly Know outran her odds of 50-1 when chasing home Let the truth be known at Uttoxeter and can go one better in the Use The racingtv. com Tracker Mares' Hurdle.

Polly Gundry's seven-yearold was having her first start for 414 days last month and she looks to have an excellent chance of victory in this average heat.
