History offers the perfect backdrop

-

Couples are travelling from across the country for weddings at Dalton Pump House, due to its history and unusual features, and the fact it can be hired exclusively for the day.

In turn, it’s led to an increase in bookings for hotels in Durham and Sunderland. It can cater for up to 270 people in the Boiler Room and executive chef Nick Kimber says he’s looking forward to getting behind the stove in the brand new kitchen.

“This is a really adaptable space and we can offer a lot of variety with the food, from a three-course meal to an eight-course tasting menu,” he explained.

“We have some couples who are having an oyster and lobster bar, some doing street food and hand-stretched pizzas. It’s a real blank canvas." The team are also working with local suppliers and higher welfare produce, such as as grass-fed beef and lamb. *An off-peak wedding package at Dalton Pump House starts from £5,800. An open evening will be held on February 1 from 4pm to 8pm.

The heart of the building is the old boiler room, which is described as the perfect space to entertain guests.

The extensive 4000 sq feet of space allows the venue to host the largest of wedding days and events.

It is adorned with elegant chandeliers, vintage mirrors and opulent table decor to contrast the Victorian industrial features of the building. Combining industrial Victorian architecture with ultra-glam modern styling, this fabulous listed building is full of character and is the ultimate elegant backdrop for the perfect wedding day.
