£20 million plans in for food store, drive-thru and industrial units set to create 135 jobs at former Sunderland glassworks site.

Pam Todd: Fabulous news. More jobs and a boost for the economy. Loving how our city by the sea is regenerating.

Stuart Porthouse: That’s excellent news and shows how the new road will bring more businesses, well done everyone involved.

David Robson:

it didn’t need a new dual carriageway to the centre to regenerate the site.

I’d rather they’d invested in a single carriageway and used money saved to dredge the river. We may have then encouraged companies that would have brought better manufacturing jobs.

Anthony Fyall: Building more shops just moves/ dilutes trade from one area to another. Some manufacturing jobs would be better especially with a better road network and next to the river.

Che Norton: I can't think of one reason to criticise this. Some people just love to twist on.

Paul Hepple: How about the fact that we need more houses, not factory units for which there is little demand. Why build a petrol station when we’ll be predominantly electric in ten years? It’s not 1983.

Geoff Hatton: 385 parking spaces and 12 will be for electric vehicles. Really?

John Scott: Brilliant, just what we need another supermarket and takeaway.

Nathan Shezza: All up for this, we need something down there.

June McManus: Need to do something with the socalled town centre first , it is dismal and minging. Half of it boarded up for God sake. How can Sunderland be called a city with that as a town centre.

Jennifer Wake: Need to get rid of all the fox down there first there’s loads of them.

Gaz Stoker: Should build an Amazon fresh store. They look well good.

Michael Forster: What no houses been built on the land I'm shocked.
