Sunderland fans have launched a petition against the cryptocurrency group ‘The Fans Together’.

The group were present at Wembley and watched the club’s win against Wycombe Wanderers which sealed promotion to the Championship after four seasons in League One. Stewart Donald and Charlie Methven have said they are prepared to sell their shares, with the latter claiming they are in talks with two external parties.

Reports have named The Fans Together (TFT) as one of those parties, and the group released a statement, which was recently re-posted on social media expressing their interest.

Louis-Dreyfus became Sunderland’s majority shareholder in February 2021, but stillownsjust41percentofthe club, with Donald and Methven retaining a combined 39 per cent, which is thought to be worth around £11.7million.

And now, Sunderland fans have launched a petition against TFT, citing concerns regarding the business model and the unstable nature of cryptocurrency and non-refundable tokens.

"Sunderland is not some experiment for you to play with,” the petition reads.

“This is a football club that is rich in the tapestry of the English game, arguably one of the 10 big clubs in the County. I think you'll be hard pressed to find a Sunderland fan who wants this to happen.

“Please, if you genuinely care about fans, you'd walk away. If you don't, you have proven you could not care less. And only want one thing, an attempt to prove the concept works in order to further your own ambition, and not Sunderland's.”

*AFC Wimbledon have reportedly rejected a £1million bid from Sunderland for midfielder Jack Rudoni.

DespiteWimbledon’srelegationlastseason,Rudoniwas hugely impressive, netting 12 goals and seven assists for the Dons and was named their Player of the Year. Reports say Sunderland have lodged a bid for the midfielder, although the Dons value Rudoni ‘substantially more’ than the £1million offered by the Cats.

New Dons boss Johnnie Jackson was asked aboutrevealing that they would consider selling if a ‘substantial’ offer for his services is made. Jackson said: “I’m not looking to sell any of my best players, but if a substantial offer was to come in we would consider it.”
