Major boost to retain Levi at Boldon CA, says Crumbie

-

Boldon CA manager David Crumbie has described the news top goalscorer Levi Collins has committed to the club for the new season as ‘a major boost’.

The prolific striker produced a stunning return of 50 goals in all competitions as the Villa outfit finished their first season as a Northern League club by earning a play-off place in Division Two.

Hopes of a historic promotion into the top tier came to an end with a semi-final defeat against Tow Law Town but keeping Division Two player of the year Collins will enhance the belief they can shine once again next season.

He said: “The biggest task on the pitch was making sure we kept hold of Levi.

“We spoke to him and he had plenty of other offers - but to be fair to Levi, he wanted to stay with us, he enjoys it here and he has a real connection with the club.

“It was a major boost to keep him and we are now back in pre-season training and looking to add to an already strong squad.”

The hard work getting things ready on the pitch is more than matched off it as Boldon continue to go from strength-to-strength behind the scenes.

The anticipation of the new campaign is already building and Crumbie admitted it is ‘an exciting time’ for everyone connected with the club.

“We are already really looking forward to the season ahead,” he explained.

“We have worked really hard off the pitch to try and improve the club as a whole. We have strengthened our media team, we have a club photographer and we have added to our committee. It’s an exciting time for us.”
