Sunderland have reportedly had a bid for Jack Rudoni rejected – but who is he and what do we know about him?

The 20-year-old Carshalton-born midfielder plays for AFC Wimbledon, who were relegated to League Two at the end of last season.

What is the story with Sunderland’s transfer interest in Rudoni?

Sunderland have reportedly seen a six-figure bid for

Rudoni rejected.

Despite Wimbledon's poor League One form last season, Rudoni was impressive. The midfielder netted 12 goals and managed seven assists for the Dons, and was named their Player of the Year.

The Sun report that Sunderland have lodged a bid for the midfielder, although the Dons value Rudoni ‘substantially more’ than the £1million offered by the Black Cats, with the club eyeing a return to League One at the first attempt.

Sunderland’s Championship rivals Huddersfield Town and Bristol City have also reportedly seen bids for Rudoni rejected this summer.

What is AFC Wimbledon’s stance on Rudoni’s potential transfer to Sunderland?

New Dons boss Johnnie Jackson was asked about interest in Rudoni, with the 39-year-old revealing that they would consider selling the midfielder if a ‘substantial’ offer for his services is made.

“As a manager, I’m not looking to sell any of my best players, but if a substantial offer was to come in we would consider it,” Jackson said.

“But it would need to be strong and right for the football club.”

What experience does Rudoni have?

Rudoni started his career at Crystal Palace, before being released at the age of 11. He then signed for AFC Wimbledon, where he has remained since.

Back in 2019, Rudoni signed his first professional contract with the Dons, scoring his first goal for the club in an EFL Trophy tie against Bristol Rovers two years later.

Since making his professional debut for the club in 2019, Rudoni has gone on to play 106 times in all competitions, scoring 17 goals.

Rudoni has also enjoyed brief loan stints at nonleague outfits Corinthian-Casuals and Tonbridge Angels.
