STORY

The first of two Government payments to support those in need during the ongoing costof-living crisis will be paid from this week.

Andy Powell: Meanwhile, single living hard working people get absolutely nothing. Not saying others shouldn't get it as everyone could probably do with it but they shouldn't restrict it to the lowest paid and benefit claimer only.

Marie Gowland: Just because we work doesn't mean we are not struggling.

Anne Bingham: So what about disabled people who can’t work are they the same.

Sally Mcguire: If you claim pension credits you qualify, but there’s loads of pensioners who don’t qualify, totally wrong all pensioners should receive it. What do the workers get, nothing, you just have to get on with it.

Andy McIntyre: It would be better to be on the dole as you seem to get rewarded for not working!! System is a joke, always has been and always will be.

Dawn Gunn: Working people obviously aren't feeling any issues with the enormous rises so get nothing as usual.

Joan Boddy: Isn’t 90% of the country struggling, including those working. Like those whose both are on low incomes have no dependants and pay full rent, council tax etc but don’t qualify for any benefits!!

Steven Defty: So not only do people on benefits get help with child care costs, they get help with the rising cost of living now too! I'm glad those who both work in a household aren't feeling the pinch too!

Steph: People who receive working tax credits are entitled to it as well.

Graham Hall: Note Government payments. Not that the Labour council will tell you that along with All the money put into nearly all of the projects and developments. I would list labour's investment in Sunderland but I cannot find any.

Chris Morris: Well I for one hope I get some help well and truly paid my contribution and now been on sick for a year.
