New car parking charges at the Stadium of Light are set to be introduced.

Lorna Chansuwan:

People have cars to get from a to b. The amount it costs for tax insurance and petrol they are not going to leave a car at home and take a bus at more expense. It’s pure greed.

Celia Domenech: Will other Everyone Active in the area follow suit and charge for parking? We’re encouraged to get fitter, support our local fitness centres then get charged to park. Typical of this shortsighted, hopeless council.

Lynda Coates: So, swims will cost even more.

The price just keeps increasing all the time.

June Pace: The Council are going to charge families to park, another bad decision which could discourage families to get fit and have fun.

Tracy Barnet: Pure greed, and to place a charge on top of the hourly rate is scandalous.

Wendy McGeorge: The parking around there is shocking anyway never mind charging too!!! I’m furious!

Jamie Clark: If they wanted people parking away from the city centre to stop congestion surely putting charges on the car park isn't the way to do that, this just punishes gym members really.

Denise Martin: If this is the case a lot of members will be cancel their memberships.

Charlotte Fox: They've started to charge all around the Sheepfolds area now no doubt aligned to development plans, and SoL has followed suit. Other areas attract custom by having free parking, just seems silly, doesn't encourage anyone to use facilities around there at all.

Eileen Hughes: Not a good idea, it will affect a couple of businesses.

Nicola Ibinson: All other everyone active centres have free car parks. Why not Sunderland. Don’t know why aquatic centre didn't have own anyway.

Lesley Kime: This isn’t going to go down well with the aquatic centre, I’m sure. I’ll be stopping using it if we have to start paying for parking.
