The average UK household could see their energy bill rise to £500 in January alone, experts have warned.

Rozalynd Boyd: Having a laugh. No way we can pay that.

Stuart Porthouse:

Rip off Britain, the Tory government and the energy companies continue to take us for fools.

Caroline Errington: Mint taking people's eyes out man.

Alex Harker: How are people going to pay that, the cost of living has gone up as well but peoples income has stayed the same.

Christian Adam: Cancel your direct debit on or before October 1. Hit them where it hurts. There are lots of people planning to do this. They have no right to readjust direct debits without permission like they have been. No signed contract between both parties either.

Margaret Irish: And where exactly is the average wage earner supposed to find £500 a month to pay for gas and electricity? Still as long as the utility companies and their fat cat bosses are making billions that's OK.

John Haynes: That's just ripping everyone off, they are making millions and can afford to drop the price.

Stuart Bennett: They should be nationalised. Not for making money for shareholders.

Bekka Dowson: I reckon a lot of us will end up learning to live without electricity again to be honest, the worry is too much stress.

Emma Griffiths: It’s costing me £100 a month in summer so yes I can see it being more to be honest.

Anne Shepherd: This is what has happened when the electric, gas, etc are not our companies, they have made a profit.

CaroleAnn Brennan: How can anyone pay that a month?

Mark James: It is self evident that families could not afford to pay such a sum, let alone the poor and the elderly.
