Households could be asked to turn down their thermostats to avoid blackouts this winter.

Maria Parker: Or switch off ridiculous outside lighting of offices, monuments etc, especially after 11pm. This Country should be exporting energy, not talking of blackouts.

Kathy Pickering: We need to nationalise our utilities instead of allowing foreign countries to own them.

David Henry: If I'm paying for it, at stupid amounts per month, I'll have on whatever I want like.

Neal Underwood: I have been told every year for the past 20 ears to turn my heating down by one degree. I can’t go any lower!

Peter Hill: People will be doing that anyway, my mam was already scared to turn her heating on last winter etc because of the cost, she’s never done that she always had a warm house.

Robert Hudson: Anyway I thought these climate experts told us we don't need heating because its going to be warm all the

time now.

Brenda Bestford: This Tory government has had years before Brexit and the pandemic, why have they not become self sufficient on gas and electric instead of relying on other countries.

Lisa Quinn: They'll be turned down and off anyway with the ridiculous price hikes!!

Carolyn Adams: Who will be able to afford heat and light with the price hikes the profiteering power companies are responsible for, it won't be power cuts, it will be unsustainable energy bills that cause folks having no power services.

Simon Alden: What makes them think everyone can afford to run their heating at all?

Julie Madine: We will not afford to put them on never mind turn them down.

Graeme Collinson: Sunderland city has got more traffic lights running 24 /7 when not needed . Surely they could switch off some of the less important ones from 10 or 11 at night.
