Side waste collections to end in Sunderland. Will this new ruling decrease or increase potential environmental damage?

Jacqueline Nelson:

Higher council tax for less service! Bring back weekly collections, problem solved.

Sarah Storr:

There will be bin bags on every street corner. We already see fly-tipping. It will just increase.

Susan Cummings:

Susan CummingsSo what's going to happen when there's bags left all over the streets? My recycling bin is already half full, and we have three bags in the green bin, I'm sick of being told to take my rubbish to the tip, I don't drive and I'm disabled, they need to do something about it.

Natasha WilliamsonJohnson:

Give people bigger recycling bins so that we don’t have to put stuff in bin bags, we are a family of five and the recycling bin is practically overflowing when it’s due to be emptied.

Jackie Brannagan:

I suspect fly tipping will increase. Have our council thought this through at all?

Vickie Doughty:

I didn't even know they were doing side collections so I won't miss it. However larger families are going to struggle. Why not bring back weekly collections instead.

Ray Simpson: People will start dumping bags of rubbish anywhere, they do it now, and it will increase.

Barry Jackson:

If they hadn’t change bin emptying to fortnightly we wouldn’t have a problem.

Carole Ann Mitchell:

They never take the bags anyway, always left on the street.

Rachel Dagg: So it’s changed from one collection a week to every fortnight what do you expect people to do. I bet the rubbish will be dumped all over now then what will you do, change it to monthly. If you are a single person on your own that’s fine but family’s need bigger bins and weekly pick ups.

Vicky Smith: If you ring the council and can prove you need a bigger blue bin you will get one. We have a bigger blue bin and there are only three of us.
