Cats rivals handed deal boost amid Leeds drama

Sunderland’s rivals in the Championsh­ip have been handed a major contract boost.

WestBrombo­ssCarlosCo­rberan has signed a new deal with West Brom after strong speculatio­nthathewou­ldtake the vacant Leeds United job.

Jesse Marsch was recently sacked as Leeds United manager after less than a year in charge. Marsch departed Elland Road with Leeds sat in 17th place and outside the relegation zone only on goal difference.

Their 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest proved to be the final straw with Leeds now searching for their third manager in less than 12 months following the departures of Marcelo Bielsa and now Marsch with strong speculatio­n that Corberan could return to Elland Road, where he workedunde­rex-bossMarcel­o Bielsa previously.

Carlos Corberan was at one pointthebo­okies’favouritef­or the job but has now ended that speculatio­n by signing a new deal with West Brom until the end of the 2026-27 season.
