Investigation ordered into sound problems at £42million City Hall as ‘annoyance’ continues. It's been driving councillors and visitors mad.

Audrey Kirtley:

Absolutely unbelievable.

Kathy Pickering: I attended the first planning meeting in the City Hall and complained in January 2022. All Councillors had Bluetooth speakers but the public had none. There should be a loop system for those who wear hearing aids as it discriminates against hearing impaired.

Lynn Appleby: The building might last less than the glass centre.

Nick Mapplebeck: £42 million to build. Rented out to the Council at £2.4 million a year, for 35 years. Opened in November 2021. Issues from day one. Now a year or so down the line, tax payers are forking out to resolve sound issues during meetings? Dunno about the Councils acoustics, but sounds like a brilliant deal to me!

John Defty: It must be under warranty guarantee, in selection of tenders etc/design. Or is the tax payer to fork out for SCC miss

management yet again !!!! ?

Gary Moan: They want sound cancelling technology installed so they can't hear the booing from the public gallery.

Alan Simpson: Proof that paying top prices doesn’t always get quality.

Steve Watts: Bit soon for “upgrading” they mean someone’s messed up.

David Green: More money on the City Hall, that is why your council tax will be going up.

Janice Richardson: The sound quality has been diabolical since day one.

Steven Spoors: Not another design flaw surely?

Gary Scott: Disgrace.

Steve Makka: Could be worse, the crooks at Durham spent £50million on their new one, then decided they didn’t want it and sold it for a whopping £18 million loss to Durham University. Easy when it’s not your money isn’t it.
