STORY

Memories of The Locarno, it's been more than 10 years since the building came down.

Joan Lavelle: Loved going to the bowling alley but wasn’t much good at playing. Years later I worked upstairs behind the bar.

Peter Henderson: Should build another one. Great memories, great nights out, should never have been demolished. I went to Newcastle Road baths then on to the bowling alley, good days.

June Tye: Mecca and Tiffs, such wonderful memories, shame I didn’t appreciate it at the time.

Patricia Barratt: I went only the one time in the seventies visiting family, it was gorgeous.

Susan Bentley: Went there when it was first opened and it was like something from another world after being used to church discos!! Fabulous!

Andrew Collinson: Great place, the bowling alley, Genevieves and The Mayfair happy days (was a Mayfair boy myself).

Susan Seekings: Drum club! Best ever.

Michael Hubbard: Best place, I worked in the bowling alley and upstairs as a bouncer.

Derek Coundon: Great times in Genevieves. Friday Rock Night, Saturday Nightclub and Monday Grab a Granny.

Keith Henry: Brilliant in the Sixties.

Rosalind Grant: Great memories of the Lacarno dancing and the bowling alley.

Kathy Stewart: Saw some great bands/artists at the Locarno back in the day and the Mayfair.

Lesley Batchelor: Mayfair and Genevieve's every Saturday night 1977-1979, loved it, Chris Cowey was the DJ.

Eileen Hughes: Met my husband in the bowling alley in 1965.

Dave Knightley: Loved that place.

David Wilson: The 80s Drumclub, upstairs.
