Silksworth CW manager Jamie Cole refused to criticise his players after they fell to a 2-1 Wearside League defeat at Darlington RA on Saturday.

After a goalless opening 45 minutes it was Silky that opened the scoring when Joe Jones found the net during the second half.

But they would be left empty-handed as Ross Howell grabbed an equaliser from the penalty spot before a stunning strike from Alex O’Hagen won it for their hosts.

Speaking after the game, Cole quickly moved on from the defeat and admitted he couldnothaveanyharshwords for his players.

HetoldTheEcho:“Theonly thingIcanfaultfrommyladsis that we switched off for a split second and got punished.

“We gave away a dubious penalty and their winner was worthy of winning a World Cup. We worked hard and it’s now a case of we go again next week.”
