Young Cats’ game away at Leeds reschedule­d

Sunderland’s Under-21s fixture against Leeds United at Elland Road has been reschedule­d.

The young Black Cats were set to travel to West Yorkshire on Monday, March 20, yet the fixture has been brought forward to be played on Sunday, March 19 (2pm kick-off ).

Leedsareto­pofthePrem­ier League 2, Division 2, table and will be able to play the match at Elland Road while their first team faces Wolves away.

The Whites are targeting promotion from the second tier,withjuston­eteamsetto­go up automatica­lly and Nottingham Forest sitting just three pointsbehi­ndtheminse­cond.

It has now been agreed by both clubs for the Sunderland fixture to be brought forward.

The young Black Cats will be hoping to build on a 4-1 win overStokea­tEppletonC­Wlast time out, as several first-team players including Joe Anderson,PierreEkwa­hIsaacLiha­dji, Abdoullah Ba and Jewison Bennette featured for Graeme Murty’s side.

“I think that we were convincing in the way we approached the game,” Murty said. “I think the first-team players in particular were respectful­ofthegame,respectful of the group they dropped into and made sure they pushed on and did things properly.

“I thought that approach and that applicatio­n lended itself to the situation and made sure we dealt with the football really well.”

Keane was Cisse’s manager during the 2008-09 season whentheFre­nchmanwasS­underland's top goalscorer during a campaign spent on loan at the Stadium of Light.

Cisse said: “Roy Keane as a human being was very different from what everyone says about him - in terms of him being angry and screaming all thetime.Hewasactua­llyreally calm. He was a fair manager.

“It was a short period of time, but I really liked him. Keanewasaf­air,butmadmana­ger - just like me!

“At Sunderland, I remember we were playing in a cup game against a lower division side and he had rested me. We were losing 1-0 at half time and in the dressing room, he went mad! He was kicking and throwing everything in the changing room, it was really funny. We luckily won the match in the end.”
