Another historic building set to become homes, if plans are approved.

Audrey Brand:

Why is Sunderland town Centre being made into a housing estate? It’s upside down this town from Vine

Place, Civic Centre, train station to Silksworth Row everywhere traffic lights, roads, paths, a danger, no shops, not everyone shops on line! God help us!

Joyce Watson:

Lots of people lived in the town years ago, my mam lived in Olive Street, buildings were tenament or terraced.

Shaun Cudworth: They are not homes they are glorified bedsits. A vibrant city centre has a mix of accommodation types from bedsits to family apartments to houses.

Val Cousins: Homes for students again.

Glem Davies: More city centre living will attract businesses as more people in town.

Colin MacDonald:

People always complain about change. Kind of ironic that people are complaining about Victorian residential properties being returned to residential properties.

Veronica McCaskill:

My first thought was not more flats, but if they have empty for some time and in need of a lot of repair, I would rather the building was saved.

Michael Gray: Town centre is becoming a housing estate.

Danny Taylor: I suppose people living in the town centre is better than having no-one going into the town centre.

Barry Docherty:

The key to successful regeneration of city centres is the creation of a large residential community comprising the widest range of tenure and house types possible, delivered by genuine partnership between public and private sector suppliers.

Paul Thompson: Home for who?

Glenn Jones: Whoever wants and can afford to buy them (or rent them). Great location for Sunniside, Mowbray park and My Delhi restaurant which has just won best curry house in the country.
