Easington Lane secure second cup final place

Easington Lane WMC are having a great season and already in the final of the Premier Division League Cup, last weekend they got to their second final, this the external Heart Foundation Cup against a physical Durham Premier League side in Sedgefield St Edmunds, winning 3-1.

Karl Powney broke the dead lock for the Lane when firinglow into the bottom corner.

However, just minutes after going ahead, a costly slip from Stephen Francis allowed Kevin Jones to equalise for St Edmunds.

Ryan Taylor fired in a 20-yard shot home to see Lane take the lead once again.

In the closing minutes of the second half, Lane scored a third goal to seal the game when Stephen Tilley volleyed home to book their place in the final.

In the Premier League, leaders Easington Colliery Welfare cruised to a 7-1 win against South Hetton Cricket Club.

Two goals a piece from Harry Morgan and Liam Apple by, along with a strike from Scott Thompson paved the way for Murton Colliery FC to enjoy a 5-1 win over Shotton Comrades.

A hat-trick from Joe Naylor saw Roseberry Park come out on top against Easington Welfare winning 6-3.

In Division One, Blackhall Cricket Club beat Has well Odd fellows Arms 9-0, and Sea ham the Knack also won with plentyin hand defeating Ea sing ton CIU 8-3.

In the Second Division, Peterlee Hearts still have a healthy lead at the top of the table this after reaching double figures in beating Horden FC 11-0 helped by two goals a piece from Elliott Stirman, Conner Jackson, Jack Gorman and substitute Alex Langley.

Houghton Comrades of Great War hit double figures and to boost their promotion chances when two goals a piece from Liam McKitten and Joe Turton plus a five timer from leading scorer Barry Turton helped them to a 12-1 win against Horden Comrades.
