Silksworth CW manager Jamie Cole has admitted his side’s season has been hampered by inconsistency - but hopes the presence of his potential successors may motivate his players to improve.

Silky are currently looking for a new manager for next season and have received several applications for the role.

No appointment has been confirmed at this point in time, but Cole believes potential candidates will be keeping a close eye on events in Saturday’s home game against struggling Shildon Reserves.

He said: “We beat Shildon Reserves 7-1 earlier in the season and that shows just how inconsistent we have been during the season.

“From the players point of view, I am guessing a few who have applied for the manager’s job will be watching so that will possibly give our players a bit of a push.”

Cole has confirmed he has a number of players missing

through injury or work commitments but expects to have a 16-man squad available.

Durham City’s attempts to finally claim a first win of the season takes them into a home derby clash with promotion-chasing Durham Corinthians.

Citizens manager Wayne Gredziak has continued to strengthen his squad this

week with the additions of Mike Weston, Dylan Cairns, Akachi Awa, Jack Barnaby and Quadri Ajibola, who will all be available for Saturday’s game.

Elsewhere on Saturday, league leaders Gateshead Leam Rangers have a strong squad available for their home game with Shotton Colliery.

Second placed FC Hartlepool are without the suspended Lewis Porritt for their visit to Annfield Plain as he serves the final game of a three-match ban.

Norton and Stockton Ancients can break into the top three with a home win against Wolviston and two sides in mid-table meet at the Dave Clark Arena as Richmond

Town host Windscale.

The weekend action will get underway tonight when the first trophy of the season is handed out as Darlington Town face Northern Alliance club Winlaton Community in the final of the Durham Trophy.

The game will take place at the Hetton Centre and kick-off is at 7pm.
