Sunderland up for the challenge when they journey to Burnmoor
In the Dukes ECB North East Premier League, Burnmoor entertain Sunderland this weekend in a local clash.
Burnmoor’s Alec Lindsley admitted ahead of the game: “This week we have our first home game of the season and entertain Sunderland, who had a great win over Newcastle last Saturday.
"On paper, it should be a great game as both sides have excellent players in both batting and bowling departments.
“Sunderland are a dangerous side and we will need to be at our best to get over the line. We also managed to get underway with a win away to Tynedale, in a remarkable game, so will be looking to make it two from two.”
Ashbrooke skipper Chris Youldon said: “We are hoping to name the same team as last week, but waiting on Jack Brassell’s availability due to international duty.
"After a great result last weekend against a good Newcastle side, this Saturday will be an even greater test following Burnmoor’s start to the season.
"That being said, the lads are really look forward to playing against the best teams in the region, and are absolutely up for the challenge.”
Chester-le-Street welcome Benwell Hill to Ropery Lane and skipper
Ash Thorpe said: “We have Luke Robinson and Charlie Purdon back available for selection.
"We are looking forward to our first home game of the season and our availability is starting to improve and we hope to be at full strength the following week.”
In Division One, Sacriston make the journey to Hetton Lyons.
Philadelphia club official Tom Acton said: “We had a good win and team performance last Saturday, led by Peter Greenwell with the bat and Joe Defty with the ball. The team is likely to be unchanged for the game at Bunker Hill against visitors Eppleton.”
Lanchester are at
Seaham Park, while
Seaham Harbour entertain Whitburn and skipper Ian Pattison said: “We go into Saturday unchanged from last week after a good win in a tight game against a good Lanchester team.
"Overseas professional Paras Dogra still awaits his visa before he can return for another season.
“We expect a tough challenge against Whitburn who will certainly be challenging at the top end of the league come the end of season.”
In Division One of the Readers Durham & North East Cricket League, Marsden entertain Ryhope at home and skipper Patrick Jackson said: “Our team not yet finalised yet, but Scott Oliver is missing due to family commitments.
"Owen Amess is back after missing last week and it’s a debut for Heshan Liyanage.
"We are looking to bounce back after our defeat last week and get our first win.”
In the other games, Esh Winning travel to South Shields, while Peterlee welcome Boldon to the Helford Oval.
In Division Two, Horden welcome Hunwick and club official Adam Dixon said:
“We are looking forward to this game against Hunwick.
"It’s always a good contest between the two sides. As its our first game of the season, we are looking to get some decent points under our belts.”
Boldon CA travel to
Ushaw Moor and Boldon CA skipper Rob O’Brien said: “It was a close fought win last week and we are looking to build up some momentum following that result.”
