NEW services to support those at risk of becoming homeless are being launched.

Tamworth Borough Council in partnership with Citizens’ Advice Mid Mercia is introducing the new service that will be used to better support some of the most vulnerable in Tamworth.

The council already deliver tailored in-home services to prevent homelessness, however HOME Hub aims to reach more people working with Citizens’ Advice Mid Mercia and other local community and voluntary partners to offer support across all aspects of life such as debt advice, increasing skills, support with addiction, family support, advocacy and support with mental health.

The HOME Hub provides holistic help to stabilise housing problems, outreach work in communities, multiagency working with one service for all issues, empowering and enabling people to create their own better future.

The overall aim is to prevent homelessness through early intervention, advice, signposting, information, and support to those rough sleeping or at risk.

The service is for anyone in danger of losing their home even if they may not yet realise it; for example, rent arears, mental health worries, warning of breach of tenancy agreement, alcohol and substance misuse, failure to meet mortgage payments; whatever it might be, help is at hand.

Councillor Samuel Smith, cabinet member for housing and planning, said: “We’re committed to aiding the most vulnerable in Tamworth and assisting those at risk of homelessness. This additional initiative enhances our current in-home support services, allowing us to extend assistance to a broader community.

“We understand reaching out for help can be challenging, but I encourage everyone to seek support.”
