Busy days for festive fun
TAMWORTH Church is gearing up for a busy three day festive weekend next week.
On both next Friday and Saturday evenings, December 15 and 16, at 6.30pm it will host the Mayor of Tamworth’s ‘Carol Spectaculars’.
Different local school choirs will appear on each night, joining the church choir in performing singalong carols and popular Christmas songs, with festive readings and poems as well.
Each evening will culminate in festive refreshments. Admission is free, but a collection will be taken on both nights for the Mayor’s charities.
Cllr John Harper was a boy chorister at St. Editha’s and so holding these two charity fund-raising evenings in his parish church during his mayoralty is very dear to his heart.
Then on Sunday evening, December 17, there will be a traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols at St. Editha’s, beginning at 6pm, followed by festive refreshments. All are welcome.
EXCITING plans which would see a popular pub brought back to life and potentially reopen “as quickly as possible” early in the new year have been revealed.
Promising signs have appeared outside the The Plough & Harrow in Fazeley in recent days.
They say: “Your favourite local reopening soon. Keep up to date on Facebook,” while another adds: “Recruiting now for our new team. Various positions available”.
A post on the The Plough & Harrow Tamworth Facebook page on November 23 said: “Making a start on the tidying up, can’t wait to bring this place back to life!”
Another update last week read: “Clean up continues. Dont forget we are recruiting for a full team.
“Roles include general manager 40 hours per week (some weekend/ evenings), bar supervisor 30 hours per week (some weekends/evenings), various bar persons shifts including part time salaries based on experience.
