SERVICE: On Sunday, 10 December at 11 the annual Christingle service will be held at St Paul’s Church, Dosthill in aid of The Children’s Society who introduced it into the Church of England.

The story of the Christingle is told and its meaning. This year, as part of earning their faith badge, Beavers are taking part, explaining different parts of the Christingle. Each will receive a Christingle orange. The annual memorial tree is now in place in the church grounds. Everyone is welcome to reflect and place a small decoration on the tree in remembrance of loved ones.

WI: Dosthill WI will be holding their monthly meeting on Tuesday, 12 December 7.30pm at DBC. The speaker will be Katherine Reynolds whose topic will be “Tis The Season To Be Jolly.” Her talk will deal with traditional celebrations around Christmastime, ranging from foods to favourite toys and festive films with perhaps a few carols to conclude.

FAIRS: Those braving the cold on Saturday to visit the Christmas fayre at St Paul’s Church, Dosthill will be pleased to learn the event raised in excess of £2,000. A big thank you to the many local residents who, as usual, turned out to support, make it a success and raise such a considerable sum for church funds. Dosthill Primary Academy PTA have organised a Christmas fair at the school on Friday, 8 December from 4pm to 6pm.

Last year this event, very well supported and the first held for several years, made a profit of over £2,000 for the school.

COFFEE: Tuesday, 12 December is the date for those visiting the regular Norman Chapel coffee morning at St Paul’s Church. It starts at 10.30am until noon.
