REFUSE and recycling collection days are temporaril­y changing in Tamworth over the Christmas and New Year period.

Tags have been attached to bins to advise and remind people of the changes over upcoming days.

All collection­s will be made one day later than usual from Boxing Day until January 6. Collection­s will return to normal on January 8.

A statement from the Joint Waste Service reads: “We wish to advise residents across Lichfield district and Tamworth borough that their refuse and recycling collection days are temporaril­y changing over the Christmas and New Year period and tags featuring the details are being attached to bins as a reminder.

“Collection­s due on Monday, 25 December will be made on Saturday, 23 December.

“From Tuesday, 26 December, 2023 to Saturday, 6 January, 2024 all collection­s by the Joint Waste Service will be made one day later than usual.

“Bins which would have been collected on Tuesday, 26 December will be collected on Wednesday,

27 December and those which would have been collected on Wednesday, 27 December will be collected on Thursday, December and so on.

“Friday collection­s within 28 this period – 29 December and 5 January – will be made on Saturday, 30 December and 6 January respective­ly. Bins due for collection on Monday, 1 January will be collected on Tuesday, 2 January.

“Over the festive period recycling bins and bags may be collected by separate crews at different times of the day. Collection days will return to normal on Monday, 8 January.”

Michael Wilcox, Lichfield District Council’s cabinet member for waste, recycling, ecology and climate change, said: “Temporary changes are being made to residents’ bin collection days over the festive period.

“They will be emptied one day later than usual apart from those that were due on Christmas Day. They will be emptied the preceding Saturday, 23 December.

“Tags are being attached to residents’ bins to confirm the collection changes.

“On behalf of the Waste and Recycling Team I would like to wish all residents a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
