COLESHILL secured three vital points on Saturday with a narrow 1-0 win over Sporting Khalsa.

On the back of a 3-0 defeat at Gresley Rovers in the league and a 3-1 defeat in the Birmingham Senior Cup at the hands of Coventry City, the Colemen were looking to get back on track and a 31st minute strike by Alex Tomkinson gave Paul Hathaway’s side maximum points.

Next up for Coleshill is a trip away to Loughborough Dynamo on Saturday (December 23) before a Boxing Day clash at home against Bedworth United and a trip to face Sutton Coldfield Town on New Year’s Day.

STONE OLD ALLEYNIANS 1 ATHERSTONE TOWN 1 Midland Football League Premier Division ATHERSTONE and Stone Old Alleynians shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

The early minutes saw Atherstone looking very busy in attack and passing the ball round well. Alleynians were content to sit back and make quick, dangerous looking attacks whenever they got the ball and took the lead on 15 minutes.

Dave Ablewhite sent over a fine cross to Sam Wilson who dived to direct his header past Finn

Osborn and into the Atherstone net, giving Alleynians a 1-0 lead.

The home side should have doubled their lead on 43 minutes when Wilson’s effort flew just wide of the Atherstone goal and the Adders made them pay when Lewis Noon intercepted a pass out of defence and fired home from 15 yards past keeper Raajan Gill.

After the break it was the Adders who looked the more likely to score and they almost claimed all three points in the last minute after a scramble in the Alleynians box. At least three shots looked goal bound but the home defence managed to stay strong, blocking the ball and clearing it away and the points were shared.
