Saturday, October 3, Lochranza Hotel Cup, six played in the first round of the winter season Stableford competitio­n. 1 Graham Kennedy, 42 points, 2 Denise Sherwood 37 points, 3 Phil Betley, 34 points, BIH.

Shiskine Golf Club

Thursday, October 1, Pink Day, 17 played. Sheila Gray, Esther Henderson and Elizabeth Kelso won. £120 was raised for a very worthwhile cause.

Brodick Golf Club

Wednesday, September 30. Eight played in thick fog. 1 Charles O’Neill 82-18=64. There was only one magic two, on the 14th, Charles O’Neill - a 40ft putt from off the sanded green.

Sunday, October 4, Brandon Medal, 15 played, CSS 64. 1 Robert McCrae 69-7= 62, 2 Ian McDermid 7915=64, BIH, 3 Alistair Hume 74-10=64.

Well done Bobby winning the 1st class Brandon and to Ian winning the 2nd class. Ian also won the September Brandon, very well done.

Next week it is a winter cup and the following week is the start of the Clochen dichter. Will the Captains please contact Gordon Hendry.

Whiting Bay Golf Club

Sunday, October, 4, Winter Cup, round one. Another lovely autumn day saw 14 players compete in the first round of the Winter Cup.

CSS remained at 63 and club captain, David Brookens, recorded his second 61 in a row to claim top spot. 1 David Brookens, 1261, 2 Andrew Martin, 11-63, 3 Alastair MacNish 13 - 65, 4 Jamie McKechnie 7-66 and lowest gross.

Jamie also managed the only magic two of the day at the 11th hole.

Fixtures: Sunday, October 11, Taylor Trophy Greensome.

Corrie Golf Club

Saturday, October 3, Captain’s Prize. 1 Barry King, 39 points, bih, 2 Graeme Andrews, 39 points, 3 John McGovern, 36 points. Very good turnout for The Captain’s prize.

Congratula­tions to Barry on his victory. Graeme Andrews came in a close second, his chance of winning going down the drain on 16. Donald made a gracious speech in which he thanked Pablo, in particular, for the excellent condition of the course.

Fixtures: Saturday, October 10, Joe McKenzie Memorial Cup. Ballots at 8.30am and 12.30pm.

Arran Ladies Golf Union

Saturday, October 3, Cir Mhor Trophy, 14 played. Thanks go to Lamlash Golf Club for the courtesy of the course which was in excellent condition thanks to Jim McKenzie and his staff.

Many thanks too, to caterer, John, for his delicious rolls and copious amounts of tea and coffee which were much appreciate­d by all the ladies.

Winner and repeating her success for the second year running was Sheila Gray with a fantastic score of 78-15=63. Second and scratch was Susan Buchard with a score of 76-11=65.

Fixture: Drumadoon tray at Whiting Bay on Saturday, October 31 at 10.30am.
