Big win for Lamlash as season gets under way

-

Lamlash 14 Northend 0

Lamlash kicked off their football league campaign with an emphatic 14-0 victory against Northend in Lochranza on Monday night.

Grant Adamson bagged an impressive five goals for the visitors and was given referee Fergus Judge’s man of the match award for his efforts.

Striker James Todd also notched up a hat trick while Johnny Sloss got a brace. Northend managed to put the ball in the back of their own net during the game as well.

There was an Arran High School link to the other three goals with teachers Barry Smith and Jack Simmons scoring one apiece and pupil David Copperwheat rounding off the scoring to send the Lamlash boys to the top of the league after the first game.

Southend 3 Shiskine 1

Just two days after the cup final it was take two as Shiskine travelled to Whiting Bay to take on Southend again. The home team won the game 3-1 but it could have been a lot more but for some fantastic saves by Finlay Murchie and off-the-line clearances from Stuart Crawford.

There was an early contender for goal of the season from Shiskine’s Fred Galbraith as he struck a sweet outside of the boot shot from 30 yards into the top corner. Southend’s scorers were Danny Head, Lewis Kennedy and Donnie Park. Referee Iain McDonald named Danny Head man of the match.
