Federation pushing ahead with plans for annual SWI show

-

The June meeting and also the AGM of the Arran Federation of the SWI were held in Kilmory Hall this year in accordance with the decision to rotate the venues of meetings to give more members the chance to attend.

President Anne Pringle, welcomed those present and apologies from absentees were noted. Minutes of the December meeting were amended and passed.

On show

The banner provided by headquarters displaying the new name of the organisation was on show and the date of the rally was agreed, as was the speaker.

A full report detailing many changes at headquarters was read. This information will be relayed to members at the start of the new session, as will the minutes from the latest meeting at headquarters when the minutes are received.

A report on progress of the planning for the annual show was provided and institutes now know their duties on the day.

The president provided an update on the very enjoyable south-west area lunch held recently in Alloway.

Some institutes represented there had already finalised plans for how they intended to mark the SWI centenary next year.

The local federation is looking for ideas on how Arran can celebrate this milestone so get those thinking caps on.

The date of the next committee meeting is Thursday September 1 in Kildonan Hall at 2pm. A full turnout of federation reps would be appreciated at the start of this very historic year for the SWI.

Encourage

Copies of each institute’s plans for the coming session will be on display at the annual show and, hopefully, this will encourage new members to join.

Finally, the federation wishes the very best of luck to the four golfing members who will be representing Arran at this year’s golf competition to be held at Fortrose and Rosemarkie.
