Charity golf in memory of Eddie Cannon
An annual charity Am-Am tournament is to be held by Lamlash Golf Club in memory of the late Eddie Cannon, who died in July last year. The club has announced the inaugural competition is to be held this year on Friday, July 22. It will be known as the E I Cannon Charity Am-Am. The annual memorial trophy has been presented by the Cannon family.
It is being held in association with the Arran Golfers’ Association with Eddie being an official from 1998-2011 as well as a past captain of Lamlash a and committee member for many years.
For the competition, the Lamlash club will be giving courtesy of the course and will be open to all members of the Arran golf courses.
The competition will be made up of four-man teams, making up their own fours, in a four-ball, better ball. A stableford competition with best two net scores added together on each hole. Players will use 90 per cent of their handicap with maximum of 20 giving maximum of 18 with each competitor’s net score based on course index at Lamlash.
Entry fee for each team is £20 towards charity of Nancy’s choice. Individual 50p sweep for magic twos. The competition will run all day from 9am until final time of 6pm, excluding time allocated for the Lamlash Junior Open around noon.
Teams to register entry with the starter to confirm their tee-off time. Participants able to play during the day should do so to free up time in the late afternoon for those who work.
The prizegiving will be held on completion of the day at approximately 10pm.
