Classic motorbikes on show at museum
The fourth annual Arran Classic Motorbike Show attracted a large number of exhibitors and a big crowd to Arran Heritage Museum last Sunday.
One exhibitor, Lenny Hartley of Brodick, proudly displayed 10 of his 30 motorcycles, one of which took first place in the racing and specials category and another which won people’s choice/bike of the year.
Representing Shiskine in the off-road category was Neil Currie, who brought five bikes to the show, his 1979 Honda Red Rocket taking first place in the category, as well as a 1973 Honda CR250 Elsinore which won best in show.
There were also three classic cars on display, a Willys Jeep, a stunningly original E-Type Jaguar from 1970 and a Triumph TR6.
The event was judged by John Hartley and Martin Harrison, an international racer and Isle of Man TT participant. Trophies were presented by Joanne Orr, well-known racer and chief executive officer of Muse- ums and Galleries, Scotland. The museum thanked organisers Ian Leitch and Lenny Hartley, AJS and Matchless Owners Club (Scottish Section) and visitors and participants, including the Isle of Arran Pipe band who performed.
