Southend regain fighting spirit as Northend are routed

-

Shiskine 1 Southend 9

Southend bounced back from their defeat to Brodick last week with an emphatic win away to Shiskine.

The home team were without the suspended John Murchie so rumours were rife that former Scotland international Stevie Thompson was being scouted by Franky to fill in. However, Stevie was only there to spectate while Franky watched on worried about his future in the Shiskine job as Ally McCoist had also been spotted in talks at the Kinloch.

Fraser Anderson scored Shiskine’s solitary goal of the night. Referee Matthew Donson gave defender Danny Head man of the match. He was also on the score sheet twice. Lewis Kennedy also bagged a brace on the night. Donny Park had the pick of the goals on the night with a well-struck shot from outside the box hitting the top corner. The other Southend scorers were Frazer Barr, Finlay McGill, Corey Allen and Frazer ‘proud log’ McKenzie bagged his first goal in the yellow and blue colours.

Lamlash 7 Northend 0

Northend continued their miserable form with another thumping from the Lamlash boys in the other game of the night.

James Todd moved into the runner-up spot for this year’s golden boot award with his 8th and 9th goals of the season.

Ben Tattersfield made his comeback for Lamlash and had a very solid performance, which included, getting his name on the score sheet along with younger brother Sam. Grant Adamson scored his 7th goal of the season while Johnny Sloss and David Copperwheat completed the rout.

Referee Iain McDonald had no trouble to deal with in the game as he didn’t have to go into his pocket once. He also gave the man of the match award to Danny Currie for the second week in a row after another fine performance.

The next fixtures are on Monday July 11 when Brodick face Lamlash at 6.30pm and Northend play Shiskine at 7pm.
