Quiz ready for open studio weekend

-

The Arran Open Studios (AOS) weekend is looming large on the near horizon. There are several events associated with this blossoming island event and one of them is a children’s quiz.

Organisers have asked participating artists to provide one question about their own studio or work. The question can only really be answered if the child and, organisers hope, parents, visit as many studios as possible to discover the answers. A few examples are:

* In which studio will you find a tea-cup tree?

* In which studio can you see a fossilised dragon?

* At Studio 36, name the stained glass flowers surrounding the front door?

No, of course there are no answers here. Families have to visit studios to discover them. And there are 26 questions – so much detective work has to be done.

There is, of course, a bumper prize from AOS for the most complete set of answers and organisers wish everyone luck and encourage eager seekers to treat the quiz as a treasure hunt or quest.

Artists at the studios will happily help out with clues and pointers. Full lists of questions will be available from post offices, participating studios and the Visit Arran office.

The open studios weekend is being held from August 12-15 and the AOS 2016 brochure is available now. More information can be gleaned from that or from a visit to www.arranopenstudios.com or by phoning Ruth on 820373.
