The Open for 2016 proved a resounding success, with good fields attending on both days. The course was in fine shape with the greens in particular drawing many compliments. From first tee off on Saturday morning to the clubhouse prizegiving on Sunday evening, everything went well and a huge vote of thanks is due to everyone who helped organise the event and took care of the needs of the golfers both on the course and in the clubhouse, where fine food and drink was available. Thanks also go to sponsors Armitage Groundworks for its generous support and to the many individual sponsors and donors who provided prizes for the event. A full list will appear on the club’s website and Facebook page.

Monday, July 25, The Whiting Bay Golf Club Junior Open. On a morning of heavy squally showers, an intrepid band of 14 junior golfers played. Regular organiser Brian Adair and his helpers did a splendid job in arranging the format to suit the various age groups and all seemed to enjoy the challenge of competitive but lighthearted golf followed by refreshments in the clubhouse. First place went to Scott Murray who was closely followed by Sam Foggo only one shot behind and visitor Ben McGregor took third place. Thanks to everyone who turned up and to Brian and his family for the hard work involved in setting up and running this pop ular event.
