Wait is over as pupils get their exam results

-

School pupils on Arran have been receiving their exam results after envelopes dropped into post-boxes and email in-boxes on Tuesday.

Early analysis of the results across North Ayrshire show a very encouraging picture with S4 pupils achieving their best results to date and S5 and S6 pupils also continuing the trend with more pupils achieving higher qualifications.

Arran councillor John Bruce, cabinet member for education, attainment and achievement, said: ‘We would like to congratulate all of our young people who have shown a great deal of effort and commitment throughout the year to achieve the results they have received today. They should all be very proud of their efforts.

Stressful time

‘We know that waiting for exam results can often be a stressful time for our young people. However, they should remember that regardless of the outcome, a wide range of support is available to help them into future employment, education or training.’

Pupils looking for advice and support can call the dedicated exam results helpline which has been set up by Skills Development Scotland (SDS).

Advice

The helpline opened on August 9 and will be taking calls between 9am and 5pm daily until August 17. Operators will offer advice on college and university course vacancies, confirmation and clearing, modern or foundation apprenticeships, employment or volunteering.

Calls are free on 0808 100 8000 although operator charges may apply. Students can also access help, advice and support via SDS’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/ SDSNorthAyrshire or through the SDS ‘My World of Work’ website at www.myworldofwork.co.uk/ examresults

Senior member

In addition, all S4-S6 pupils will be given the opportunity, where necessary, to speak to a senior member of staff at Arran High School regarding their option choices when they return to school later this month.
