Wednesday August 3, The Betty Black Trophy. Due to the weather and course conditions underfoot this competition did not take place. It will now be played on a date to be announced. Check the club notice board and website for further details.
Sunday August 7, The Lifeboat Competition. The last of our charity support opens drew fields of 20 gents and seven ladies on a morning beset by weather warnings for strong winds. Happily, these did not materialise although conditions were blustery at times. In the gents competition, CSS stayed at 63 and Jamie Macpherson won with a two under par 61. 1. Jamie Macpherson 5, 61 and lowest gross, 2. Markus Kroner 8, 62, 3. Stuart Paterson 11, 63, ACB, 4. Stewart McGregor 23, 63. There were Magic twos from Wolfi Kroner @11th, Alan Foggo and Stuart Paterson at 14th and Jamie Macpherson at 16th. There were also had nearest the pin prizes at 4th and 17th won by Stan Rainey and Pete Smith. These prizes were kindly donated by our friends from the Friars Tavern Golfing Society, Carlisle, who are regular and welcome visitors to Whiting Bay. They also made a generous donation to RNLI funds to augment the £54 raised by the competition. Our grateful thanks to them.
Sunday August 7, The Lifeboat Stableford. In the ladies stableford, seven played and CSS came in at 33 points, Beth Paterson just edged first place from Elizabeth Rankin and Christine McLeod, all three of them coming in with 30 points. 1. Beth Paterson 9, 30 pts ACB, 2. Elizabeth Rankin 29, 30 ACB, 3. Christine McLeod 22, 30.
Fixtures: Sunday August 14, The Aitken Rosebowl and AGA Arran Grouse qualifier. This is a foursomes competition, one draw for partners at 10am. Monday August 15, AGA Champion of Champions at 5.30pm. Wednesday August 17, Summer Trophy.
Friday August 19, AGA Champion of Champions at 5.30pm. Saturday August 20 and Sunday 21, Kilbride Challenge at Lamlash and Whiting Bay, the team sheet is on the clubhouse notice board, please enter your details if you wish to play on either or both days.
