Curtains draw to a close on the final weekend of the McLellan festival

-

After another busy and successful season, this year’s McLellan festival is drawing to a close but, with three events still to go, there remains much talent on display from the final performances.

The first is the opera gala on Friday September 2, which promises to be a wonderful evening with opera greats from the talented students of the Arran Summer School.

They are fortunate to have two sets of very talented students on Arran this year.

Having been working in Corrie Hall all week, eight drama students attending the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland will present new theatre work already performed at a German arts festival for the Conservatoire.

This will consist of a piece of physical theatre based on Watership Down, a short multimedia film and a play entitled Green

Zone in which two sisters, torn apart by war, must reconcile their differences. These interesting pieces, superbly performed, can be seen in Corrie Hall on Saturday September 3.

Finally, on Sunday September 4 there will be a performance of Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle, a glorious piece of music guaranteed to delight, especially given the talented young soloists supported by the local choir, McLellan Arts Festival Chorus.

Tickets are available at the door for all events or online at arranevents.com or at the Book and Card, Brodick.
