Lifeboat crew thank RNLI fundraisers
Arran’s RNLI crew were thrilled to welcome charity walker Alex Ellis-Roswell to the Lamlash lifeboat station during his recent visit to the island.
As reported in last week’s Banner, Alex walked round Arran as part of a 9,500mile, four-year non-stop walk around the coastline of Britain and Ireland raising money for the RNLI.
While on Arran, Alex took part in a training exercise with the Arran RNLI lifeboat crew on board the Rachel Hedderwick to give him an opportunity to see what the money he rasies goes towards.
A station spokesman said: ‘So far Alex has raised more than £24,000 for the RNLI and with just under half of his epic endeavour to go we are sure he will meet with more success. Everyone at the Arran RNLI station would like to offer Alex our fondest farewell and we are sure he will continue to have success throughout the rest of his travels.’

Thanks
The station would also like to offer heart-felt thanks - and an unreserved apology for the lateness of this acknowledgement - to Garry and Ann Tulloch who completed a Mac-rothon, completing either three miles or 25 minutes of running every day last December, regardless of the weather.
‘This was truly a tremendous feat. Everyone here at the Arran RNLI lifeboat station was extremely grateful to receive the money they raised,’ the spokesman added.
