New ferry terminal is fantastic facility
VisitScotland chief executive Malcolm Roughead visited Arran on Wednesday his first stop was the new Brodick ferry terminal which he described as a ‘fantastic facility for the island’.
He was given a tour of the site by Caledonian Marine Assets Ltd (CMAL) head of civil engineering Ramsay Muirhead and construction project manager John Quinn to hear about the progress of the project.
And afterwards he told the Banner: ‘The emphasis is very much on the experience for the visitors and locals alike and the way it is being developed is very forward looking to ensure a positive all round experience.’
Malcolm, who was joined on his trip by VisitScotland regional director Annique Armstrong, then went to the Arran Outdoor Education Centre before having lunch at The Douglas Hotel with VisitArran and the Arran Economic Group followed by a round the table discussion with a group of island business owners and entrepreneurs. He then visited the Brodick iCentre before leaving on the ferry.
His first Arran trip is the latest in Malcolm’s ‘listening tour’ visits around the country. The visits enable him to see and experience some of the latest local tourism developments, engage with industry representatives and also provide them with an opportunity to speak directly to him.
