GHK Ladies 4s 1 Arran Ladies 5

Arrran Ladies hockey team remain undefeated after another good win against GHh in Glasgow last Sunday. They sit top of the test District tomen’s Hockey League Division 4 with 24 points thanks to eight wins on the spin.

At the weekend, GHh opted to play with 11 field players, which meant that they took the field without a padded-up goalkeeper.

The first half started well for Arran and they were ahead after just seven minutes when left wing player Lorraine Hewie scored from a pass by Helen Thomson from the right wing.

Lorraine was on target again after 22 minutes with a lifted shot into the goal making it 2-0 to the visitors and that was how it re- mained until half-time.

Arran started the second half the way they had ended the first, with Helen Thomson scoring after just six minutes. Left midfielder Susie Murchie saw an opening and fired a rocket shot across the pitch to Helen on the edge of the circle who finished with an unstoppable shot.

Hat-trick

Lorraine then got her hattrick when she caught the ball off the rebound from a defensive player to score and Anne tatts took the opportunity of a running break to score Arran’s fifth goal.

tith the game in its dying stages, it looked like Arran were going to keep a clean sheet, but GHh spoiled that with a consolation goal in the final minute.

Bethany Tetlow played in goals for Arran and Alison Henderson played with the team for the first time. Pauline Reid umpired the game on behalf of Arran.

Anne tatts was nominated man of the match by GHh and Elyse Aitken was voted dame of the game by her team-mates.

The team wish to thank the supporters on the sidelines who gave them great encouragement.

Arran Ladies will be playing two matches this weekend. They play Rottenrow Bluesox 2s at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre today (Saturday) with a pass back time of 1.30pm. Tomorrow (Sunday) they are at home against testern tildcats 3s with a pass back time of 11.45am at the Ormidale Astroturf and a good support would be appreciated.
