Trust to hold open day

-

Trust Housing is holding an Open Day on Wednesday April 5, from 9.30am to 1.30pm at their Glen Estate development in Brodick and then from 2pm to 6pm at their MacKelvie Road development in Lamlash.

The Open Day is for potential tenants and their families and the local community. The aim is to highlight its one- and twobedroom homes which are for rent and to ensure these groups have all the information they need about living in a Trust Housing sheltered property.

Each flat has its own bedroom/ bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and living room. In each development there is also a large communal lounge where social activities are regularly held.

All the flats are on ground floor level and most have a walk-in shower. The flats are modern, warm and well insulated and heating is charged at a fixed monthly rate. Part-time coordinator staff presence and Hanover call centre assistance 24/7 also give peace of mind to tenants.

Ann Reid, Coordinator at Glen Estate, Brodick explains the benefits of living in a Trust property: ‘I believe that we provide the most practical housing option for many retired people; to have a place they can call home, with no responsibilities for repairs and maintenance and as little or as much care and support as they need. Moving to sheltered accommodation can help older people to remain independent for longer.

‘Some tenants who had misgivings before they moved in are now very happy. They have a secure door entry system and their own private self-contained apartment.

‘That’s why I’d urge residents on the island to come along and see us at our Open Day and get an accurate picture of the accommodation and services we provide – we think you could be pleasantly surprised,’ she said.

The day will give guests the opportunity to talk to staff and find out more about housing benefit, the nomination and application processes, have a tour of the development and get the chance to speak to experts, honestly and openly, about the benefits and actual costs of living in a Trust Housing property.

Trust Housing provides preventative care and support that is flexible and tailored to the needs of the individual which allows tenants to maintain their independence and have an enhanced quality of life, as well as providing peace of mind for tenants’ families.

Trust properties are only available to people over the age of 60.

Anyone who is interested in attending should contact Ann Reid on 01770 302716 or Colin Cameron on 01770 600100.
