Pupils put their skills to the test
Parents and grandparents were invited to Whiting Bay Primary School last week for the annual science fair, where pupils put into practice what they have been learning in science.
P1/2 and 3 have been learning about magnets. They have also been investigating sound and making models as well as finding out all about living things and life cycles. P3 have been using pneumatics in their model making.
Investigated
P4/5 have been learning about how animals survive in a cold climate. They also investigated how to use a microscope effectively and have been finding out about the human skeleton.
They have also been researching weather systems.
P6/7 have been learning how to use a microscope to observe evidence to solve a crime as well as finding out about systems in the human body. Before that they were investigating flood emergency procedures and recently they have been building and programming Lego models.
The after school science club has also been working on two projects, the construct a crane challenge, which involves designing and building a model crane, and designing and building a model hydraulic lifting arm.
They have also been soldering lights and investigating robotics.
