Fraser stages photo exhibition at Arran distillery

-

A new exhibition of work by local photographer Fraser Aitchison is to be staged at the Isle of Arran Distillery in Lochranza.

Launching on Friday April 7, the opening will run from 7.30pm to 11pm and will include music from a local band. The exhibition runs until the middle of July.

Fraser is a weel kent face on Arran. Originally from Ayrshire, he has been an island resident since the early 1990s, after frequent earlier visits.

His previous careers have included working at the sand plant, delivering coal all over the island and working for Edinburgh Council, as well as helping set up Arran Broadband.

Working with both the coal and Arran Broadband have allowed him unique access to parts of Arran many don’t see.

Revelling in the vistas that Arran provides, Fraser is delighted to capture images to stimulate the imagination and relax the mind. During the recent Anvil Challenge, when Davy Ballantyne took a 120kg anvil to the top of Goatfell in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Fraser both documented and aided in the attempt.

After 26 days the anvil arrived at the summit and the effort has so far raised more than £15,000 for the charity.

Fraser currently lives in the south end, where he is blessed with spectacular views.
