-

Last Sunday, 15 triathletes from Arran Junior Triathlon Club (AJTC) travelled to compete in the Allander Youth Aquathlon hosted by Glasgow Triathlon Club. Making their debut appearances in the Tristar race were Grace Popplewell, Luke Goatley and Gregor Gunaydi. Ruby Wright ran in with a finish time of 10 minutes 46 seconds to claim a fantastic third place in the girls Tri 1 race, placing the first Arran junior triathlete of the 2017 season on the podium.

In the Tri 1 Boys race Myles Lindsay-Smith obtained a well-earned personal best followed closely by Jack Popplewell. Tri 2 Girls race was completed fantastically by Julie Hamill, Beth McCarthy, Erin McNiven and Abby Stewart.

Followed up next by the Tri 2 Boys, James McCarthy, Ruaridh Lindsay-Smith and Archie Gunyadi. Nearing the end of a great day, Ciara Wood, competed in the Tri 3 Girls race. Clearing the final race, Eilidh Hamill showed a tremendous transition to the youth category. Proving a wonderful role model to all the other triathletes, Eilidh completed her race with a huge smile and was rewarded with the biggest cheers from all of the AJTC children and parents on the sidelines.

Organisers congratulated everyone who competed and thanked all of the parents for their support and encouragement.
