Robbie takes top spot in Winter Cup

Sunday March 26, Stableford sweep. A beautiful spring morning drew 11 players for the final club sweep of the winter season from the yellow tees. With warm sunshine and freshly-mown greens, they were not disappoint­ed and scores reflected the conditions with eight of the field equalling or bettering par. That said, no-one had an answer to Danny Head’s blistering 40 points, a gross 64 in old money.

1 Danny Head 5, 40pts, 2 Graeme Crichton 13, 38pts ACB, 3 Andy Martin 11, 38pts, 4 David Brookens 11, 37pts. Danny bagged a magic two at the 10th, as well as Andy Martin at the 3rd and Markus Kroner at the 4th.

Fixtures: Saturday April 1, Poole Trophy mixed fours, 11am. Sunday April 2, the Roy Ure Tankard. Summer Sunday draws now at 9am and 11am. Please note the new time for the later draw is 11am by popular demand.

Saturday March 25, The fourth Drumadoon Tray competitio­n at Machrie Bay Golf Club saw 19 ladies competing in glorious sunshine. Thank you to the Machrie for the courtesy of the course and to Katie for the lovely sandwiches after the game. It was Katie’s first day as caterer and we wish her well for the coming season. 1 and scratch, Kema Genda 8111=70, 2 Jenni Turnbull 8817=71 BIH, 3 Aileen Latona 94-23=71.
